The Cyber Security Council of the UAE government, in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, signed a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in the field of cyber security, with the aim of establishing a secure information society that can combat cyber-attacks. This cooperation comes within the framework of the country's efforts to strengthen cyber security, reduce cyber threats, achieve information security, and protect users' privacy.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of the Cyber Security Council of the UAE Government, expressed his happiness at Microsoft joining the council's efforts to enhance cyber security, and stressed the importance of cooperation with leading technology companies in this field, in order to enhance cyber security and protect data and vital information for institutions and citizens, and to achieve a secure and protected information society from all possible forms of cyber-attacks.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti said that this memorandum of understanding is an important step towards establishing a strong framework for cybersecurity that would protect critical infrastructure and prevent cyber threats, noting that these threats have become increasingly sophisticated and complex, which requires a coordinated response from all entities.
Naeem Yazbeck, General Manager, Microsoft UAE, explained, “Over the past few years, organizations across the region have made significant changes in their cybersecurity strategy to accommodate the growing number of users who need access to critical and sensitive applications and data, and we are committed to collaborating with The Cyber Security Council of the UAE government in order to enhance cyber security capabilities throughout the country, and exchange information to contribute to preventing cyber threats.
Under this memorandum, Microsoft and the Cyber Security Council will cooperate to exchange information and expertise in the field of cybersecurity, with the aim of improving cyber capabilities and focusing on national cooperation and methods of prevention and response to cyberattacks. In addition, the company and the Council will cooperate in increasing awareness and education in the field of cybersecurity and digital protection. Through educational programs and providing training courses and workshops for institutions and employees.
